Moira Replan Open Day

Moira’s Replan Centre recently opened its doors for all to share how it provides a unique role within the community. Moira Replan is a registered charity based in the village of Moira, providing services to Ashby Woulds, North-west Leicestershire and South Derbyshire.

The open day was supported by North West Leicestershire MP Andrew Brigden, District Councillors and over 100 people. Amongst these 100 people were: Moira Potters; art and sewing groups; area photographic, documents and artefacts history group; South Derbyshire and Ashby Woulds Amateur radio group; Elite first aid; Youth Landscapers and HeadsART. All of these groups now call Moira Replan their home.

Due to the variety of groups in attendance, open day goers, had the opportunity to have a try at pottery, painting, needlecraft or have the chance to discuss the heritage of the area through photographs, whilst enjoying refreshments and a chat.

The groups at the centre run at various times throughout the week, to improve mental and physical health and well-being.

Ashby Woulds Town Council is also based at the centre, making it very accessible to those without transport. A vast amount of information can be accessed at the centre, which also has a Community Police drop-in once a month.

Replan are happy recipients of a cheque from The Morrisons Foundation Trust of £4,500 for the purchase of a desperately needed new boiler to replace the very old inefficient model.

Especially at this time of increased energy prices the new boiler will reduce our bills dramatically.

We are so grateful to The Morrisons Foundation for this very generous donation and to Helen, Community Champion, from the Swadlincote store. Helen was able to come to present the cheque and meet some of our Centre users, join us for a cup of tea and a chat about all of the groups that use the Centre.
